These awards are designed to appeal to Facilities Management companies, construction firms, property development groups, interior designers, architects, construction technology and other suppliers to those big FM and construction groups.

ENTRY CRITERIA
 
BEST FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ‘HARD’ SERVICE PROVIDER (for FM firms specialising in managing new build or Building Retrofit Projects)

This award is focused on FM firms which enable buildings to be built or rebuilt to customers exacting standards using the latest products and technology. Sometimes called ‘hard service’ providers, projects they run might include full strip outs, new heating and cooling systems, LV upgrades, new LED lighting, acoustic soundproofing and sound masking systems, new alarm systems, floor plate designs, installation of new shower room facilities, full security upgrades, internal-external signage and rebranding. Installation of vending machines, enabling new concessions to be cited and much more.

FM firms which focus on hard services. It is anticipated that some details of the products and systems which you installed will be included in your entry.

The judges will be looking for:

■ Details of how relationship with key stakeholders are managed by your team from architects to construction companies, M&E contractors, owners and occupants of buildings.

■ Evidence of ensuring the latest building quality standards, security and safety standards have been applied, as well as buildings ‘operational carbon’ emissions reduction targets if appropriate.

■ A short customer case study must be provided with the entry to prove that you are an exemplary ‘hard services’ FM provider to in-house property teams and others in charge of building and retrofit design, execution and handing back to the building owners and occupants. Entrants who fail to provide a case study or detailed testimonial letter will not be considered. (650 words maximum)

NOTE:

The maximum word count for answering all questions below is 1,500 words before testimonial letters, quotes and case study materials. Your entire entry must fit within four pages of A4.

Company Name:

Q1. Please explain the full extent of the hard services you deliver for built environment customers, concentrating on how you have worked with customers since 1st July 2024 and any improvements and enhancements you have made in you services over the last year.

Q2 Explain by using a specific recent customer example, how you ensure every aspect of a new build or retrofit is carried out to the customers’ satisfaction. What reporting systems and communications regime to you use to keep these project moving along to the quality and timescale required? To what extent has new technology adoption by your company enabled this?

Q3. Please give details of pipeline of further service enhancements, that you are planning to roll out over the next year. Please state whether you need this information to remain confidential.

Please provide an up to 650-word customer case study or testimonial letter which proves that your FM service(s) which are the focus of your award entry has delivered as planned. Entrants who fail to provide a case study or testimonial letter will not be considered.

 

BEST FACILITIES MANAGEMENT ‘SOFT’ SERVICE PROVIDER

This award is focused on Facilities Management (FM) service providers – sometimes called ‘soft’ service providers. It is anticipated that FM providers which manage all or specific aspects of a building, will enter this award. Suppliers to FM service providers can also apply.

Areas of focus for this entry might include catering, cleaning & hygiene management, security, fire safety management, access control including visitor management, keyholding, contractor management, capacity optimisation, engineering, parking control, waste management, AV and digital signage management, HVAC, lighting, power consumption, and much more.

The judges will be looking for:

■ Details of what the FM service provider and/or aspect of the commercial or residential property market is seeking to excel in and how it is striving to become a market leader in its focus area(s).

■ Evidence of adherence to the latest FM, security and/or safety standards, as well as supporting buildings ‘operational carbon’ emissions reduction.

■ Evidence of focusing on meeting or exceeding customer needs including summaries of feedback from customers which you have applied in enhancements to your service, the data you provide to end users, building owners and other key stakeholders.

■ A short customer case study must be provided with the entry to prove that it is beginning to realise its ambition to lead in a specific service lines and/or part of the market. Entrants who fail to provide a case study or detailed testimonial letter will not be considered. (650 words maximum)

NOTE:

The maximum word count for answering all questions below is 1,500 words before testimonial letters, quotes and case study materials. Your entire entry must fit within four pages of A4.

Q1. Please explain what service innovations you have been able to bring through to some (or all) of you customers in the last year since 1st July 2024 and what specific improvements your customers have seen to date.

Q2 Which customer needs did you identify which led to the new or enhanced service provision. To what extent has new technology adoption by your company enabled this enhancement?

Q3. Please give details of pipeline of further service enhancements, that you are planning to roll out over the next year. Please state whether you need this information to remain confidential.

Please provide an up to 650-word customer case study or testimonial letter which proves that your FM service(s) which are the focus of your award entry has delivered as planned. Entrants who fail to provide a case study or testimonial letter will not be considered.

 

BEST PROPERTY EQUIPMENT PROVIDER

This award will go to providers of equipment which goes into buildings. The equipment could include physical security devices (e.g. rising bollards, barriers, ramps and fencing), gates, turnstiles, CCTV equipment, key systems and key cabinets, x-rays for scanning of posted items, bomb bins, wall protection. In addition, HVAC system providers, hardware providers for Security Operation Centres, lighting systems, vending machines, fire safety equipment, sensors and much more.

Entrants in this category need to prove a strong focus on serving FM and property management companies to their specifications, supporting them in a way that they keep coming back.

Evidence of meeting environmental need to reduce waste water and decarbonise will also be considered favourably by the judges.

The judges will be looking for:

■ Details of the product or product range which you have sold a great deal of in the last year since July 2023.

■ Evidence of adherence to the latest FM, security and/or safety standards, as well as supporting buildings ‘operational carbon’ emissions reduction.

■ Evidence of focusing on meeting or exceeding customer needs with this product(s) and overcoming any supply chain issues in bringing it to market.

■ A short customer case study must be provided with the entry to prove that your product is working well for FM and property management companies. Entrants who fail to provide a case study or detailed testimonial letter will not be considered. (650 words maximum)

NOTE:

The maximum word count for answering all questions below is 1,500 words before testimonial letters, quotes and case study materials. Your entire entry must fit within four pages of A4.

Q1. Please detail the name of your product, its specifications and any enhancements you have made to this product and/or product range in recent times. Include any challenges you had in designing building or improving this product and how you overcame them.

Q2 Please provide some sales details on how many of the product(s) you have sold over the last financial year. Explain how this product is meeting a growing market need?

Q3. How do you support installation and maintenance (and end of life replacement if appropriate) of your product? What warranty do you offer on it (or them if a product range)?

Please provide an up to 650-word customer case study or testimonial letter which proves that your product meets the needs of FM or property management firms. (Entrants who fail to provide a case study or testimonial letter will not be considered).
